Again I am proud to release a split cassette by two of the most promising Depressive Black Metal-bands of todays scene. Both Austere from Australia and Lyrinx have been highly acclaimed recently as outstanding bands emerging from the current underground and claiming their position as a constant in depressive and nihilistic Black Metal. This split is after Austere's "Withering Illusions and Desolation" album and Lyrinx' "Nihilistic Purity" EP the long awaited new "sign of life" and it was definately worth the wait! This is one our of the finest in depressive extreme music that there is at the moment!
Both bands on their own have a very specific style and sound, still they fit together exquisitely. Austere's music is wide and epic in a way, inviting you to let your thoughts roam - but in contrast the vocals are high-pitched screams and shrieks, creating a totally ghostly and surreal atmosphere. You might spot influences from bands like Nyktalgia or even Drudkh, but you will spot the bleak desolation for sure.
Lyrinx side on this release makes a perfect match as stated before, although it is somewhat different. The music is more straight to the point, more minimalistic one might say. Lyrinx uses simple elements with repetativ songstructures and derive maximal effects with these means. With only slight changes now and then they engulf the listener with their tunes of nihilism and darkness. Before you even realize you will be caught in the maelstrom of darkness and insanity.
